| | Radio 4 - Enemies Like This | ] | First, fuck LJ cause i typed out the first day and deleted it in a way i still don't know. But anyway, I'm back from Germany and it was like this:
Day 1 - We arrived at about 6 pm at our hotel in Berlin. It was in the turkish district, so not exactly the best part of the city. But still, not too bad. We checked out our rooms and I finally learned to play poker (which we did for like every minute of spare time we had in our rooms). After that we went to Stars in Concert (die beste doppelgänger der Welt!, says enough, doesn't it). There were some cheesy imitations of Elton John, Cher, Sting and Michael Jackson. It was fun (to laugh at them) for half an hour, but it got a little boring. We went back to the hotel for our first night lack of sleep.
Day 2 - After a 7 hour night (which was the longest of the entire week)we had a tour trough Berlin with the bus. We came past the Berlin Wall, which wasn't that impressive really. Just a regular wall with some graffiti on it. On the other hand, the Russian war momument was impressive. After that we saw Checkpoint Charley (next to Snackpoint Charley) and we ended at the Berliner Dom and the most boring museum ever (including the most boring and ugly guide ever). It was a reconstruction of some Greek building, but inside out. Maybe hard to imagine but it sure was boring. The Berliner Dom was pretty nice, but nothing more than any other church. After all the educational stuff we had some spare time (read pints and fast food) and we got back to the hotel. Dinner wasn't good, but I hadn't expect anything else. In the evening we went to the Reichstag. We had to go past a metaldetector there and other stupid checks for wapons. Smart as I am I had brought a pocketknife with me. I just left it outside and then a guard found it, so I guess I'm on the terrorist list in Germany now. The view from the tower was really nice, but that was it. We had the rest of the night off, but it was a sunday so everything was closed -_- The only cool thing was a roller disco in front of the Brandenburger Tor (you'd like to see that don't you, well i forgot my camera 8-|). So we had a 2 hour walk trough the district and I bought a Ampelmänchen badge in the only store that was still opened (picture comes later cause my sis stole our camera). Back in the hotel we played some more poker and went to bed relatively early (I shared a room with the most boring people ever, that's why).
Day 3 - We had to get up at 8 again for a visit to the Jüdisches Museum. It was really interesting actually and our guide with the worst American accent ever was cool too. It was about the life of Jews in Berlin trough the centuries (no it really wasn't boring :P). After the tour we found the best room ever under the stairs. There was a tv with a 1926 Disney-cartoon and a lot of big pillows. Felt like heaven at that time. We had the rest of the afternoon off to shop on the Kudam (the biggest shopping street in Berlin). I didn't really like the shops there, cause they only had big stores like Peek & Cloppenburg, Nike, Adidas and Esprit. I found one cool store where they had a nice jacket, but I didn't buy it cause i didn't want to risk that my mom would let me pay it myself. We did enter every shop were they sold useless stuff (mostly WC stuff in the German colours). They still sold slimey in one warehouse, but it was like €5. We had some pizza and then we had to leave Berlin again (N) I guess I would have liked it better if we stayed the whole week, but it was a nice city though. At 6 pm we arrived in Dresden which was really nice! We had the rest of the night off. There were really cool small liquor stores and pubs with owners called Jan 8). We bought some bottles of Wodka and Rum (which was disgusting, but I like the Wodka). We went with a nice group to one room and drank there all night. One of my room mates puked in his bed, but fortunatly I was still at Jan's pub :P When I came back it did smell weird, but it didn't really bother me. The only thing I could think of was sleep.
Day 4 - After a short night we had a walk trough Dresden. As I said it was a lovely town, which looked more like an Italian town with all the beautiful churches and the Opera building. Though are guid was a bit less lovely. She did the tour in German so nobody could understand a fuck of it, as much as nobody cared. In the afternoon we went to the Volkswagen factory, which I expected to be a regular factory hall. But it turned out to be one of the most modern factories ever. They even had wooden floors, the most complicated robots and so on. There even was a driving simulator, in which you could drive a VW Phaeton! 8) You had to be over 18 but we all told that we had a driving licence. They didn't believe us anymore when some 5' kids told they were 18 but they let us in it anyway. It was really fun but when you were driving you didn't really think of the beautiful car you were in. More about how to avoid a 6th crash after taking a curve with 260 km/h (the simulator stopped if you'd crashed to often). You could design your own Phaeton too and make a picture with it. So it was all really much fun to do. When we got back to the hotel we had half an hour left before dinner, so I went to the best cd store ever! They even had cd's by bands like Help She Can't Swim. I bought Maximo Parks Missing Songs there for only €14 8). After dinner we went to a Jazz club, where there was a jamming session. We were allowed to leave after half an hour by our teachers, and very surprisingly most people did. Nevertheless we stayed with about 10 people and it wasn't that bad. Though it's not my music, they played some cool parts. The night was about the same as on the 3th day, but after the drinking we smoked a water pipe too. I'd never done it before so it was nice to try once. It turned out to be nothing special really, but it did taste good.
Day 5 - So it was a short night again and we were all getting exhausted. First we went to another boring museum. They had some famous pictures by Vermeer and Rafael, but for us the couches will be famous. We fought for them in every room and slept as much as we could. After lunch we had a tour on the Elbe in a boat. I tried to sleep but i couldn't so i got even more tired. In the spare time we bought a mini football and went to the park which was beautiful. Seriously I would move to Dresden if it wasn't in Germany. In the evening we watched the Champions League final whilst falling asleep. I really couldn't hold my eyes open anymore, but i made it till the final whistle. Barcelona one so everyone in our group was happy and they ran singing trough the streets. Though i was exhausted I stayed up cause it was the last night. We drank some more wodka and beer and said goodbye to Jan, who gaves some free crisps cause we saved his pub from going bankrupt. Actually, I guess we saved Berlin and Dresdens economy for this year by buying so much alcohol and cigarretes. At 3.30 am we finally went to bed.
Day 6 - The bus left Dresden at 9, so I only had 5 and a half hours of sleep. The bus trip took 10 and a half hour because of some traffic jams -_- I couldn't sleep again so I finally fell asleep on the couch at 11 last night. I was glad I could sleep in my own bed again and have a proper bath. But it was a great trip and really too short. And if you ever get the chance to go to Dresden, go! |

| | Oasis, Blur and many more | ] | Chiara forced me to start writing again so I will :P
Yesterday I went over to Laura with Chiara. I promised to catch the same train as her, but I was quite late which meant I had to rush to the train. I was at the station in 15 minutes, which usually takes me 30 so hooray for me.
Then after catching the train I had to walk trough like the entire train to find Chiara. At first I approached the wrong person but finally I found her :P After some chatting we arrived in Venlo where Laura was waiting for us. I played some guitar at here place and Laura and Chiara were chatting about really everything. Then we went shopping, bought some ice cream and Chiara bought shoes. We were all making fun off Laura because she mentioned "him" all the time :P Then she got stuck in a shoe at Bijenkorf and it took ages to get out of it. After shopping we ran into Maarten who brought his new Epiphone Casino!! It's like almost the prettiest guitar ever and someday I want to buy it too. We went over to the park where Maarten and I played on it and it just sounded so nice, even though it wasn't plugged in. Chiara was putting Daisy chains in my hair and we danced some more to 5ive and then Maarten had to leave with his guitar :( Next time I'll just nick it together with Laura's Libertines poster which is like the best ever.
So after the park adventures whe went back to Laura's place to watch a really cool Britpop documentary. I didn't know fucking shit (in the words of Noel Gallagher) about it, but now I do and I'm even starting to like Oasis. I still don't know what was on the couch I sat on, but I don't think I'd want to. Afterwards we ate some chips and played some more piano and guitar and then we already had to go again (N)Chiara and I had a nice chat in the train again about NGR vacuums and farms and in no time we were in Eindhoven again and I had to say goodbye. |
